To contribute to strengthening essential services in the areas of education, protection and health for children and the most vulnerable populations in areas affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
To improve the quality and safety of the education and protection systems and access to health services for local communities in the Mykolayiv and Odesa Oblasts.
1. Improved access to safe, inclusive and quality education for children and adolescents affected by the conflict
2. Improved access to services protecting and promoting the psychosocial well-being of children affected by the conflict.
3. Integrated support guaranteed in the field of early intervention for children aged 0-3 with disabilities and/or developmental delays in the Odesa oblast (within the framework of services provided by early intervention centres).
The project was designed to respond to the urgent needs of children living in the Mykolaiv and Odessa regions by strengthening local educational, psychosocial and health services.
We want to contribute to improving educational provision, strengthening the tools for an adequate response to the psychosocial problems of children in war zones, and facilitating the provision of health services for children, with particular attention to children with disabilities and/or developmental delays.
The approach focuses on creating and refurbishing safe spaces, training local staff and mobilising mobile units to reach the most isolated sections of the population. By improving conditions for safe, inclusive and quality education for children and adolescents affected by the conflict, the regular participation of children in formal and non-formal activities will be ensured, with a particular focus on children with disabilities and those exposed to situations of exclusion or school dropout.
With regard to the health component of the intervention, we will focus on strengthening early intervention centres in the Odessa region. This will help to fill a structural gap in the public response to the needs of children with disabilities, in a context aggravated by conflict and reduced access to ordinary health services.
