Contributing to social cohesion and gender reintegration in Palma, promoting an integrated multi-stakeholder approach combining mitigation of gender-based violence with community-wide prevention while supporting women’s socio-economic emancipation.
1. Improvement of the knowledge and skills of local institutions and leadership structures in the area of prevention, mitigation and response to gender-based violence, women’s economic empowerment and prevention of GBV in trans-frontier enterprises.
2. Response to gender-based violence is supported through an integrated multi-level approach in Quinoga and Mute.
3. Women and girls obtain economic results from their work.
The goal of the project is helping to establish the conditions for reducing gender-based violence and improving the resilience and socio-economic inclusion of local women and girls in the Palma district through development of a sustainable, integrated organisation encouraging acceptance of responsibility and focusing on the community.
Considered a preliminary or pilot project, the initiative focuses on establishing the conditions (supplying dignity kits, building knowledge and training) for implementation of this integrated response, which will, at a later time, see women involved in group initiatives for economic empowerment, creating a favourable environment for achievement of the goals.
The project includes training for community leaders in how to protect women against violence, make the community aware of the problem of gender-based violence and prevent sexual exploitation and abuse, with campaigns promoting awareness among cross-border traders, distribution of hygiene kits and initiatives for the economic empowerment of vulnerable women and girls.
